Wildflowers

With the warm weather we have experienced this spring, all sorts of plants are popping up in the garden. Noticeably early to show up are these spring ephemerals. The hepatica, sweet violets and erythronium are almost done blooming while the others are in full bloom.

The Virginia Bluebells (Metensia virginica) are in their second season. They are bigger and have multiplied this spring. Their pinkish-lilac buds that open violet-blue is a sight to see.

These two native Erythroniums are the first to flower. The species dens canis and tuolumnense are up but no flower. The hybrid 'Pagoda', on the other hand, are in buds.

Hepatica

The genus Hepatica was moved to genus Anemone.

I am waiting for the Trilliums, Geranium maculatum and Aquilegia canadensis to flower. All of them are growing nicely.
